Thing5, the leader in SIP trunking and hosted PBX services for the hospitality industry, announced today that its newest offering completely eliminates the capital expense normally required for a new or replacement telecommunications platform. The service is offered as a monthly subscription. Properties with up to 130 rooms can expect to pay no more than $649 per month.
Thing5’s Capex-less service includes voicemail, ACD, interfaces to PMS and call accounting systems and a fully featured hospitality class PBX. The offering allows clients to eliminate a significant capital expense without sacrificing service or functionality. A typical hospitality PBX purchase is tens of thousands of dollars per location, while Thing5’s hosted solution does not require the purchase of any PBX equipment. Thing5’s offering also provides more functionality than traditional hospitality PBXs. Thing5’s platform includes all of the features found in other hospitality PBX solutions, with newer messaging functionality such as the ability for guests to have all calls placed to their room, including wake-up calls, simultaneously ring their personal cell phones.
Additionally, Thing5 offers better stability and uptime than traditional onsite PBX products with 24×7 network monitoring. Thing5’s solution is hosted out of its two geographically redundant network operations centers (NOCs), located in Massachusetts and Florida. This provides failover and redundancy not available when telecommunications hardware is located onsite at client locations.
Thing5’s enterprise solution utilizes burstable IP trunking; this enables on-demand sharing of under-utilized trunk capacity. Thing5 clients taking advantage of its fixed rate calling reduce their monthly telecommunications expense immediately – in most case by 40-60%. Thing5 provides all of its solutions via a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.
